Walnut Pomegranate Salad

This is a recipe of fruit and nut mix. I have selected Pomegranate as the fruit and Walnuts as nuts. Pomegranate is not very sweet and walnuts are not very tasty compared to cashew nuts and the like. But the health benefits of Pomegranate and Walnuts are amazing. So I thought of making these two more acceptable to our taste buds by trying this recipe.
I prefer dark red pomegranate over pale ones. Clean the fruit under running water thoroughly. Soak the walnuts in pure water for sometime, say 5-10 minutes which makes it soft, great to chew!

Ingredients

Dark Red Pomegranate - 1 whole
Walnuts - 50 grams ( 7 numbers )
A small bowl of fresh yoghurt (Low fat preferred)
Or
Extra Virgin Olive oil - 1 teaspoon

Preparation Time - 5 - 7 minutes

Serves - Two people

Utensils Required

Salad bowl
A small kitchen container
Kitchen knife
Chopping board
Spoon
Strainer or Sieve

Preparation

Cut the pomegranate and gently peel off the outer covering. Be careful not to crush the arils of the fruit inside. Carefully pluck the small fruits from the septal layers. Gently remove the whitish buds attached to it's top. Place the fruit in a container of water and rinse thoroughly. Drain off the water using a strainer and transfer the fruit into a salad bowl.
Chop the soaked walnuts into small pieces using a kitchen knife on a chopping board. Mix it with the fruit. Adding yoghurt or olive oil is your choice. I like yoghurt better than olive oil.
Yes…. The dish is ready. A really healthy foodstuff…..Enjoy!
